Ways to Keep Your Pets Safe During a Tornado Mother Nature can be sweet, but there are times when she can be a little ruthless. The city of Abilene recently experienced an EF-2 tornado that was 300 yards in width and covered 2.3 miles. So many people were affected by this incident, some lost their business or home. When disaster hits, you rush to get you and your family to safety, but it can be difficult to remember the family pet. During this scary time, your pet may flee, making it hard to find them in this crucial time. Here are a few things you can do to make it easier to keep your pet safe in severe weather. Do You Have an Anxious Dog? Not everyone experiences having an anxious dog. Some people live their whole lives with multiple dogs that don’t suffer from it. But what about those that do? It is heartbreaking to witness your little pooch go through fits of anxiousness like trembling, whining, clinginess, drooling, hiding or panting. Dogs can’t tell us what is bothering them and it is hard to know because they don’t get anxious for the same reasons as we do. But there are some things you can do to help them and some things you shouldn't do.
