There is no denying the fact that cats are not as friendly as dogs as a whole. Yes, there are some very friendly cats, but typically they exhibit more independence than dogs. Even people who call themselves cat people typically agree, which is one of the reasons why they prefer cats over dogs. They like the fact that cats somewhat take care of themselves and do not require near as much attention as a dog. There have been a few studies conducted by experts who believe that cats attitudes and behaviors may come from the fact that cats are the only domestic animal that was not ever domesticated by humans. It's believed that when they were wild, they began moving into cities and then eventually into people’s homes. People solely used them to kill rats. Most people did not view cats as a worthy pet but more as a free exterminating service.
